2011 High School Senior – Bailey McDowell

Monday, June 28th, 2010

We shot Bailey’s senior session this morning and despite the heat, we really had an awesome session.  Lots of locations, lots of outfits, lots of killer shots.  I must say, Bailey is a great sport (as is her mother).  We even did a little trash the prom dress.  Shelly, thanks so much for walking barefoot in the creek and holding my lights and stuff.  You’re awesome.  Bailey, you rock too!

Here are 2 of my favorites from the session this morning (P.S. Bailey’s grandfather built that cross – pretty awesome, huh?)

David Watts – Class of 2011 Senior

Friday, June 25th, 2010

I had an absolute blast shooting David Watts’ senior session this morning.  More shots from this session to follow on a later date, but for now, here’s my favorite from the day.

Mallory & Ryan’s Wedding – A Sneak Peek

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Mallory Wilson and Ryan Gibson got married on May 29 and let me say I just loved everything about this wedding.  From the Victorian style to the 57 Chevy to the super fun wedding party (especially the guys – Ryan your groomsmen were a hoot!)

Anyway, sorry it’s taken me so long to get this sneak peek online (it’s been a little busy around here).  In fact, we brought our daughter home from the hospital on Friday and then shot Mallory and Ryan’s wedding on the following day (so to say that it was an eventful week would be a massive understatement!).  My wife, Rachel usually comes with me on weddings, but since she had a baby 3 days prior, I let her off the hook on this one :-) so instead, my  mother-in-law, Charlyn came along to help me out and even 2nd shoot a bit (Thanks Char!)

Senior season is officially underway!

Friday, June 11th, 2010

We’ve already started shooting 2011 seniors and let me tell you, it’s gonna be a GREAT season.  We have lots of seniors on the calendar already but it’s never too early to call and schedule.  Even if you want to shoot in the fall, it’s not a bad idea to get it on the books now so you get the spot you want (last year, we were turning seniors away because our schedule was sooo full).  So if you know any 2011 seniors, tell them to call and book their senior pictures.

This is Aaron Delph from Jackson High School.  His mom warned me ahead of time that he wasn’t too stoked about the idea of getting senior pictures done (as is the case with most boys), but let me tell you . . . we had a great time and got some pretty awesome images too (plus I think Aaron had a pretty darn good time too).

Here are a few favorites from Aaron’s session this morning.

Zoe looks like . . . ?

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Well . . . I imagine every parent in the world tries to figure out who their kids look like when they’re born.  Of course, Rachel and I are no different.  We’ve been making comparisons all week long, and while the general consensus is that Zoe looks like Rachel, I did manage to find one small physical feature that I’m responsible for.

First let’s look at baby pictures:

I think it’s pretty obvious from the above pictures that Zoe mostly resembles her mother.  The lips, the eyes and especially the nose, but before you dismiss me completely and start asking what the mailman looks like, examine closely to see if you can find the one feature that she got from daddy.

It may not be too apparent from the baby pictures above so I’ll help you out a little bit more.  Have a look at the picture below to see if you can find it (HINT: both Zane and Zoe have this feature)

Did you find it yet???   If not, scroll down for the answer

That’s right.  My best feature, the good old butt chin.  Even Zane has it (and he’s adopted).  So the two of you can thank me when you get older and you realize the many advantages of a chin dimple.

#1 – Great excuse for taking so long to shave (Zoe, let’s hope this isn’t an issue for you)

#2 – It’s a butt you never have to wipe.

#3 – Great place to store left over crumbs of food for later consumption.

and that’s just a few of the many advantages.  So Zane and Zoe . . . . from your father . . . . You’re Welcome!

Holly and Nathan got married – a sneak peek

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

I shot Holly Balsman and Nathan Moran’s wedding on May 22nd. They got married at Hermann Hill winery in Hermann, MO and it was a beautiful venue. I must say, we were all a little nervous because this wedding was on May 22 and Rachel’s due date was May 19th (and she hadn’t had the baby yet by wedding day) . . . so I was nervous and Holly was nervous and Nathan was nervous and my wife was nervous. I told Rachel when I left the house that she had to sit with her legs crossed all day and that Zoe was forbidden from entering the world on this date. Luckily for all, she waited a few more days and I got to be a part of Holly and Nathan’s beautiful day. I felt so honored.

For those of you wondering, I did have backup. Kris Gay with Bella Vita Studios in Fort Wayne, IN came up to help me shoot and she was going to be my backup in case I had to leave. Luckily, I didn’t and we got to shoot the whole wedding together. (Thanks Kris)

Finally, before I post the sneak peek images, I have to give a shout out to the videographer. He was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! His name is Michael Gebben with Gebbs Wedding Films and not only is he amazingly talented, he is a super nice guy and was a pleasure to work with all day long. If you have a chance to check out Holly and Nathan’s 5 minute video, you should do it. You will be BLOWN AWAY! Not only is the video incredible, Michael produced it on the DAY OF THE WEDDING and showed it at their reception.  I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.  You can check out their video here (it’s less than 5 minutes and totally worth your time) – http://vimeo.com/12011064

Now on with the pictures:
