Most of you know the news already, but for those of you that don’t, consider this the official announcement. Rachel is pregnant! Yes, we were as surprised by this news as everyone else. In fact we had our application in at LFCS for adoption #2 when we found out. Rachel is about to go into her 13th week and we went to the OB yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat (yeahhhh!!!) . Due date falls right around May 19th. We’ll keep you posted via the blog as we find out new information (like gender – I’m hoping for another boy, but I’m outnumbered by . . . let’s see . . . . EVERYONE).
Anyway, considering that no blog post would be complete without a picture – here’s a shot of Rachel that we took when we first found out (back at the end of Sept.). I don’t imagine we’ll see abs like this again anytime soon so we figured we’d capture them while we could. We’re going to try and take more pictures of the belly throughout the pregnancy to show the progression. So stay tuned!
We went to court today to finalize Zane’s adoption and it is finally complete. The judge signed the papers and he is 100% officially our son (not that he wasn’t our son before . . . but you know . . . now it’s official! with paperwork and everything).
This is a picture of us with the judge right after the hearing.
Alright – so I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted any personal or family updates (I know . . . a long time. I’m sorry – We’ve been busy!!). So this post will serve to show you several recent pictures from the last month or so. Then I plan to enter some backlogs of some important events that I never posted on (included will be photo and video).
And then . . . I promise to try and keep this thing updated for those of you who are interested in staying up to date. And with that – here are some recent pictures.
As many of you know from a previous entry in January, I had high hopes that Zane may have superpowers. Well in keeping with my aspirations for him, we got him a Superman costume this year. Turns out … I think maybe he does have some superpowers.
Granted . . . these pictures were not actually taken on Oct. 31, but it was his Halloween costume, and he went to a costume party on Oct. 19 so I’m including it in this post.
All right . . . back to the superpowers thing. 1st of all – as soon as we put the costume on him, he stood up on his own. He was sitting in the grass with nothing to pull up on and he just stood up. Everyone of us were in awe! I said, “it must be the costume”.
Zane stands up on his own.
This may not seem quite so impressive, but what he did next is really amazing. Turns out . . . Zane can fly. See for yourself.
Zane can Fly
(Alright, he might have had a little help from his dad on that one.)
The rest of the day was spent with Rachel’s side of the family (it was cousin Pacey’s baptism that morning). So here are a few more pictures from the day.

Then we went to Katy St. John’s 2-year birthday party
Rachel and I took Zane’s six month pictures today (well . . . all except for the one on the piano were taken today). We did the one on the piano last week.
I can’t believe how fast he’s growing. Anyway, here are a few of our favorites (or you can click here to see them all)
Zane is doing this thing now where he sticks out his tongue, makes noises and blows bubbles. We think he’s trying to talk. He was really doing it a bunch before we turned on the video camera. But as soon as he saw the camera, he’s quit doing it. We were able to get a little clip of him doing it (although it’s not his best).
Zane really likes to stand so we put him in his new bouncy seat. He’s not quite tall enough yet to touch the floor but it’s still cute. He’ll be jumping in no time.
Zane turned 4 months old on the 19th of May and the doctor says to start giving him rice now. So we gave it a go on Thursday night. See the video below for Zane’s first spoon-feeding (he had to poop first though).
I know I haven’t posted in a while (and I’m really sorry about that) but life has been pretty busy around the Zahner house. I promise that 3-month pictures will be coming soon. We just haven’t quite gotten around to taking them yet. I do, however, have a new video to share. I was changing Zane’s diaper when I decided to love on him a bit and he just started giggling every time I got up close to his neck (I think my whiskers were tickling him). There’s some fun footage of it below. I hope you enjoy.
